VII. International scientific conference on economic development and standard of living

October 27 – 28, 2017 – Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina

The aim of the conference is to discuss obout the perspectives and barriers of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the countries of Southeast Europe in the light of European integration processes, as well as other global socio-economic trends. Of the 20 million enterprises that exist in the European Union, 99% are small and medium-sized enterprises. They contribute 60% to the EU's gross domestic product and provide 80 million jobs. This in particular means that SMEs employ two thirds of the total number of private sector employees in the EU. Small and medium enterprises are the engine of economic development. They promote private property and entrepreneurial skills. According to many experts and economists, SMEs are synonymous with the private sector, and figuratively for entrepreneurship. Their comparative advantage is in the flexibility, the ability to adapt to changes and meet the needs of the market. In EU countries, governments adopt regulations focusing on SMEs' prosperity and fostering their growth and competitiveness.

Therefore, we decided that the main theme of this year's scientific conference "EDASOL 2017" will be titled as "Small and medium entrepreneurship - perspectives and barriers", and we have offered researchers and authors a wide range of topics.
